Denali National Park
This is one of the truly most stunning road trips in North America, with some of the most extraordinary scenery in America. This journey will take you north from Anchorage to Fairbanks (358 miles), and you will get to see so many incredible things. There’s Musk Ox Farm, as well as the farms of the Matanuska Valley, where you can see world-record size produce. You can also get a breathtaking view of Mt. McKinley in Talkeetna by “flightseeing” with K2 Aviation. There’s also the Riverboat Discovery, Pioneer Theme Park, and the El Dorado Gold Mine—and of course, fishing and rivers to enjoy! You can check Denali National Park sightseeing and rafting, and you’ll even get to see some Alaskan wildlife.
Are you a history buff? If so, this one’s for you. You can re-live the old days of the Klondike Gold Rush by exploring the towns of Haines and Skagway. On your way to Haines, you’ll pass by a visual feast of scenery, and then once in Haines, you’ll experience a dramatic world of Native culture and gold rush history, the world-famous Chilkat Dancers, museums, and cultural exhibits. There are also flight-seeing trips to Glacier Bay. You can jump on the Alaska State Ferry to Skagway and visit the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. There you can visit museums, walk along the Klondike Trail, and ride the White Pass and Yukon railroad for a unique trip back in time!
The landscapes along Alaska’s Seward Highway is magical. For this trip, you’ll travel along the beautiful shores of Turnagain Arm, populated by lots of Dall sheep and Beluga whales! You can stop by the world-famous Alyeska Ski Resort and Portage Glacier. You can keep on going until you get to Seward, where the Alaska Sea Life Center and the Kenai Fjords National Park are located. On the way back, be sure to take the Sterling Highway to visit the ice-blue Kenai Lake and the Kenai River. Don’t forget to see the historic gold mining community of Hope. Close your road trip out with a stop in the picturesque town of Homer, where you’ll find crafts and artistic treasures to keep forever.
