RVing in Alaska with Your Dog

1. Prep Your Dog

Before you start out on your RV trip, there are several important preparation steps. If possible, bring your dog to the RV to get it acquainted with the space. Make sure that your dog has a collar with up-to-date tags, that includes your cell phone as the contact number (not your landline). It is also essential that your dog has all of its shots, and is micro-chipped. It is advisable to bring vaccination records with you.

2. Pack the Essentials

There are plenty of options for travel gear for pooches. You’ll want to bring collapsible water and food bowls, a harness and/or secured travel crate for when the RV is in motion, dog shampoo, and your dog’s favorite chew or play toys. Planning to do any boating? Consider investing in a float coat for your dog’s safety. Other safety items may include a lighted collar or vest so you won’t lose sight of your dog in the dark.

3. Plan an Active Trip

Want a happy dog? Plenty of exercise is the key! When traveling with your dog, you may need to take a bit slower pace in order to make sure it gets enough walks and activities. Alaska is full of great places to hike with your dog. With a little advance planning, you and your dog will have a great time exploring. A&M RV Center has all your RV rental needs covered. Questions?
