3 Ways to Eliminate Odors in Your RV April 3, 2020 Ted Palmer Share Traveling all summer in your motorhome gives you a chance to unwind in the Alaskan wilderness, taking in the sights and enjoying nature. However, your travels also bring hurdles that don’t usually come with living at home, including some unpleasant odors. When you and your family are living in such a small space, umpleasant smells are sure to occur. At A&M RV Center, we ensure that every new rental is clean and ready for use, but you’ll be on your own out in the wild. Here are several tips for keeping your RV clean and odor-free. 1. Clean Out the RefrigeratorLiving in a smaller space means that it doesn’t take long for wafts of odor to make their way out of your refrigerator and into the entire motorhome. To keep your fridge free from bad smells, clean it out once a week and throw away any spoiled food. Keep a small box of baking soda in the back to help absorb those bad food odors as well. Also, make sure you store foods in zip-lock bags or tightly sealed storage containers.2. Store Shoes ProperlyPacking the right gear for all of your hiking and outdoor adventures is one thing; storing them properly is another. To prevent those wet hiking boots or old tennis shoes from stinking up your main RV cabin, leave them outside to air dry. If you know you’re not going to be wearing them for a few days, store them away in sealed plastic bags to contain the smell. And, if you can, dry out your wet socks before putting them with the rest of your dirty laundry. This will ensure that a moldy odor doesn’t make its way into your motorhome. 3. Wash the DogIf your four-legged family member is along for the ride, then you probably have plans to take them on hikes and let them explore. This means they’ll likely get into all the smells nature has to offer, including the gross ones. If you don’t want those odors in your RV, make sure you pack some dog shampoo and an extra hose. Before they can get back into the camper, wash them off and give them a lather to eliminate any unwanted odors in their fur. Your fur baby will be clean and happy, and your nose will thank you too.Reserve Today! If you’re looking for the best way to escape and travel around the state of Alaska, check out the motorhome and RV rentals from A&M RV Center.
