4 Etiquette Reminders for RV Campgrounds October 2, 2019 Ted Palmer Share By and large, RV travelers are an amazingly friendly bunch. They’re used to making conversation with people of all walks of life. RV campgrounds are known for the spirit of community that blossoms as soon as you pull into your hookup. But if you’re new to this world, it can be helpful to understand a few of the “unwritten” rules of the road, er, campground. We’ve listed a few of those below. And one thing’s for sure, with an RV rental from A&M RV Center in Anchorage, Alaska, you’ll be well equipped for whatever adventure awaits you. 1. Respect others’ space. Just as you wouldn’t walk across your neighbor’s yard at home, don’t walk through other peoples’ campsites. Quarters at RV campgrounds are close enough, and it’s helpful to respect the boundaries and give your neighbors some space. Likewise, consider how your noise level may affect others. Love the sound of wind chimes in the breeze? Your neighbors may not. Finally, many campgrounds have quiet hours, and it makes everyone happier if those rules are respected. 2. Watch your pets. If you choose to bring a pet with you, recognize that not everyone in the campground will want to make best friends with your best friend. Try to keep any barking at a minimum, and keep your pets leashed if the campground requires it. 3. Volunteer to take off your shoes. If you’re invited inside someone’s RV, be a good guest by offering to take off your shoes. If you’ve been RVing for a while, you probably do this anyway. Because RVs are small, many RV owners or renters like to do everything they can to keep dirt at a minimum. 4. Ask if you’re not sure. Veteran RVers understand that people who are new to RVing will have questions about everything from maintenance to driving to etiquette. So there’s absolutely no shame in asking what is considered appropriate and neighborly. The community of RV enthusiasts is ready and willing to offer advice and suggestions to make your RV experience the best one you’ve ever had.
